After retiring from teaching Physics and Earth Science in New York after 27 years of service, my wife and I moved to sunny San Diego in 2003. During the 1990's, I served as a Lighting Engineer for Con Edison Power Company where I designed retrofits to increase energy efficiency in Manhattan as part of the “Enlightened Energy Program”, and an IT manager for CBS television where I configured the computer network.
In San Diego, we both began to work as teachers for the local school districts. At first, I was assigned to the School or Creative and Performing Arts, SCPA, and then I transferred to Point Loma High School. After 5 years in the San Diego Unified district, I retired again from teaching. In the summer of 2007, I served as a "creative/specialist" for Apple Computers in Fashion Valley where I instructed clients on how to use Apple computer devices.
I rejoined the San Diego Unified district at Mira Mesa High School in September 2007 as an Earth Science Teacher. My interests outside of teaching are The Red Cross, photography, nature, humor, vintage and modern cars, geology, physics and astronomy. For 2009-2010, I was the Department Chair of Science and a Physics Teacher. For 2011-2012, Adanced and Standard Earth Scienceis my main interest. GOOD NEWS! Our students after 4 months of waiting for supplies, Earth Science teachers finally received a large order! However, my district IT department and Facilities, after a 5 months of requests, has made updating this site difficult by BLOCKING MY ACCESS FROM SCHOOL and calling me a E-THUG! and STILL NO VENTILATION IN THE CLASSROOM.
